I started writing computer reviews for Input, a Calgary-based
free paper that ran an ad that they were looking for contributors. They
accepted my review of the then-new Geoworks Ensemble, and sent
me a cheque for
$25, changing my life (for better or worse). The following year, the
paper
moved to Vancouver, and then folded, however, I was able to start
writing
for Vancouver start-up Our Computer Player (not to be confused
with
the US-based Computer Player gaming magazine). I also published an
article
in Business in Vancouver,
which eventually
led to a weekly column for that has continued to the present. And I had
a
tip published in US-based PC Magazine,
paying a princely US$50. Clearly, I was on my way to becoming a major
voice in technology journalism!
