Sunday April 30 2023 - Information tables, music, community interaction

Grandview Park - 1200 block of Commercial Drive, Vancouver

2-4 pm

The Vancouver Mayday Social Justice Information Fair has been held in Grandview Park in Vancouver for several years - it's an open invitation to a broad range of social justice groups to come down, set up an information table and talk to the community.

This year, as before, Social Justice groups are invited to come, set up a table, bring literature, snacks, what have you, and chat with people wandering down the Drive!

COVID 19 is not over: Please wear a mask when you’re not able to physically distance. We will have a supply of  N95 masks for anyone who needs one. Please do not attend any in-person events or meetings if you are feeling unwell.

We acknowledge that these events are taking place on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation)

"This May Day let’s all stand together for a city that works for all of us. Let’s stand up for living wages, renter rights, affordable housing, and real action on Reconciliation, equity, the opioid crisis, and climate!
Let’s send a powerful message that we will not accept our coworkers, neighbours, and communities being left behind.

Please attend, bring a friend, and share the event with others."

DSOV Maydays Events Calendar

"This year, the Democratic Socialists of Vancouver are working with the Vancouver MayDay Social Justice Information Fair and other organizations and individuals to restore May 1 to the prominence it deserves in our city and in our movements for justice.

Chip Wilson, the billionaire class, the real estate barons, and the police lobby may hold political power in Vancouver for now - but workers and tenants are getting organized and fighting back. May Day is a time to remember whose labour makes the city and the world run, and to celebrate working class resistance and struggle.

Because May 1st is not a statutory holiday, we’ve decided to call this initiative May Days - and we’ll amplify events taking place for the full week around May Day.

This year’s humble effort is a nod to the many and diverse working class traditions of marking May Day in Vancouver, including the Mayworks festival of arts, culture and resistance which took place for many years."

"Join us in celebrating International Workers Day– also known as May Day– with music, food, and good company as we remember the hard won victories and ongoing struggles of workers of all stripes.
Whether you're a sex worker, an ethical substance use navigator, farm worker, artist, educator, caregiver, home maker or a healthcare worker, join us as we reaffirm our solidarity with the masses of the world, and with our neighbours right here; reaffirm our struggle against settler-colonialism plaguing these lands and wreaking havoc world over; reaffirm our conviction to destroy the borders and prisons that kill and restrict us; reaffirm our desire to create a prosperous world that values life not profits, and that puts the power in the hands of people not corporations or politicians.
